Is this a taste of the future? Outsourcing goes full circle as Indian firms look to the U.S. for cheap labour

To the large companies, it is a frustration experienced by most people when they are made a phone calls.  An unfamiliar voice answers the phone in a call center hundred of miles away where cheap labor is commonplace.  Although the reversal of fortunes is now appears that the large Indian companies are actually now themselves outsourcing to US shores.  The large corporations that have boomed in India, the country’s nimble economy have been drawn to the US where unemployed has soared.  Once the employees are establish, many are offered the chance to be flown to India, it is the same countries have done in India.

The Phenomenon which could become more widespread in the coming years is partly due to Indian workers demanding higher wages and higher living standards.  By a savings culture of large cash deposits, the Indian economy has boomed and it is the year outpace China.  The Business around the world have targeted India as the part of the BRIC emerging economies for the global expansion.  In living standards and higher wages, the residents there have seen an increase which has led to a higher spending.

However, in a stark contrast and further sign that the global power is shifting from the west to the east, the economies of the west to th east.  The economies of the US and many European countries have spiralled downwards.  The Indian companies had previously used call centers at home or shipped large numbers of the local workers to the US to work cheaply.  A crackdown in visas by the Government combined with the optimism in India has meant that fewer people want to leave.

There is also a growing trend that a companies want to have workers based in the countries where organizations have a large customers bases or wish to expand.  Base in the Mumbai, the Aegis Communications joined the growing number of overseas companies opening centers in the US to take advantage of the high unemployment.  In the US, they have nine centers which employ 5,000 people but it is expected to triple to 15,000 employees.  In the Lower Manhattan, the call center employs a large number of African Americans with the few qualifications.  The line manager Ray Capuana stated that their recruitment model is simple. He do not care of people come from Park Avenue pr the park bench. The process of hiring the US workers instead of the local workers in India nearshoring diverse sourcing or cross shoring. With the Indian workers, managers have complained that those from the US are spoiled and lazy.
