In the US, Obama healthcare reform bill with the passageof the historic although much maligned. There is a new opportunity that has opened up for the outsourcing companies as hospitals and insurance providers that will now be seeking ways of the minimizing expenses. The news has been all a-flutter with the potential benefits that this bill presents to outsourcing providers. The outsourcing firms including the Firstsource Solutions and WNS are now planning to increase their onshore presence in the US to help them win contracts by expanding their relationships while maintaining potential clients at arm’s length building trust. The other companies including the Genpact in the meantime are looking for the possible mergers and acquisitions with the other companies so that they can broaden their expertise and take advantage of more business from the healthcare industry.
The company is searching for the companies that offer revenue cycle management, process optimization and clinickal and non clinickal supply chain management for the insurance firms and providers. For the technology outsourcing providers including HP EDS and IBM, the bill does not pose a large scale. It will be a business process outsourcing providers who can offer front and back office assistance to the clients who will need to focus more on the key business processes analysts speculate that the several other different companies including Patni Computer Systems, Cognizant, Infosys and Wipro may also benefit from the bill. From the customer enrollments, the bulk of the new business will likely come. The different outsourcing destinations such as the Philippines, India, Mexico and China will probably be clamoring to get the lead in the healthcare outsourcing.
It is likely that those who will benefit the most from the bill are those that can offer onshore capabilities or those that are near shore, such as Mexico and Canada. With the bill now in place, it is estimated that about 32 million people who were previously not eligible for the insurance that can now apply and subsequently avail of healthcare services through insurance providers. In the processing, the sheer number ensures that most providers will soon be seeking assistance in the processing. Their existing clients as well, the Insurance providers who were previously hesitant about availing of the outsourcing services that will now have to take a long hard look at their options. The competition to gain big profit from the healthcare services will also be tougher in the outsourcing industry as well.
